Florida Governor DeSantis Rips into Harris-Walz Ticket as ‘Most Left-Wing in American History’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis swiftly responded to the news that Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate in the 2024 election.

In a series of posts on X, DeSantis lambasted Walz as a “radical left-wing Democrat” who shares similarities with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), a member of the progressive “squad.”

DeSantis pointed out that many Minnesotans have fled their state in recent years, citing a 2021 statistic that showed they were five times more likely to move to Florida than the other way around. He attributed this exodus to Walz’s policies, which he claimed have led to a breakdown in law and order, increased taxes, and “unscientific” coronavirus restrictions that have harmed children and businesses.

DeSantis expressed his hope that Harris would invest significant time and resources in Florida, predicting that her efforts would be for naught. He argued that Floridians have already rejected the policies of “San Francisco Democrats” and would not support a national implementation of such policies under a Harris administration.

The Florida governor also described the Harris-Walz ticket as the “most left-wing ticket in American history.”

He criticized Walz’s handling of the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots in Minneapolis, accusing him of failing to take action as the city burned.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, however, offered a starkly different assessment of Walz, describing him as “right down the middle” and a “heartland of America Democrat.” Pelosi claimed that Walz is a moderate who does not fit DeSantis’s characterization as a left-wing extremist.
