The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is required by federal law to provide voter registration information to everyone applying for Medicaid benefits, including foreign nationals. This has sparked controversy in the state, with Rep. Adam Morgan raising concerns about non-citizens receiving voter registration forms. The agency is investigating the issue, and there are calls to amend the National Voter Registration Act to remove this requirement.

In response to these concerns, Governor Henry McMaster has instructed the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division to investigate the allegations of illegalities. The state is also considering adding a provision in the budget to prohibit the distribution of voter registration information to foreign nationals at state agencies.

President Biden’s Executive Order 14019, known as “Bidenbucks,” has raised further concerns about the use of federal funds to expand voter registration and turnout through third-party organizations. This has been criticized as a partisan weaponization of the government.

The South Carolina State Election Commission is auditing voter data to ensure only U.S. citizens are registered to vote, with safeguards in place to prevent fraudulent voter registration. Efforts are underway to pass a constitutional amendment in the state to prevent foreign nationals, including illegal immigrants, from voting in local elections.

Rep. Morgan and the Freedom Caucus are pushing for greater election integrity and accountability, emphasizing the importance of addressing these issues to protect the sanctity of the voting process in South Carolina.
