The Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office in Skidmore, Missouri is getting help from the FBI in a 23-year-old cold case involving the disappearance of Branson Perry. A tip was received by the sheriff’s office, prompting them to invest in the case with the assistance of specialized FBI resources.

The investigation includes searching a well in Quitman, Missouri, near Perry’s hometown. This is not the first time the sheriff’s office has investigated the case based on community tips. In 2009, two individuals were questioned about Perry’s disappearance and pointed to a location where his remains may be found. However, despite digging up the area, no remains were discovered.

Sheriff’s Captain Austin Hann emphasized the importance of community tips in solving cases like Perry’s. He expressed the desire to provide closure and resolution to the community, as Perry was a well-liked individual and his case has garnered widespread interest.

Retired Police Officer Michael Kurz noted that the case is now being treated as a homicide investigation rather than a missing person case. He highlighted Perry’s positive traits and the impact a resolution would have on the entire community. The ultimate goal is to bring closure to this long-standing mystery surrounding Branson Perry’s disappearance.
