TAMPA, Fla. — An escaped inmate was discovered in a Florida woman’s car, leading to a frightening ordeal last week.
After receiving reports of a vehicle burglary, the Lady Lake Police Department responded to the incident shortly after 4:40 a.m.
The woman reported hearing the alarm in her BMW go off and upon investigating, found Jesse Hall, 31, grabbing her arm when she opened the passenger door.
Despite being able to break free and armed herself in her home, Hall ran away when officers found him near the BMW. He was later apprehended and surrendered at gunpoint.
Authorities found a small key fob-like Taser on Hall, which actually belonged to the victim. Upon searching the car, a black Nokia cellphone was discovered, with Hall claiming it as his own.
Hall initially used an alias, but his true identity as Jesse James Hall was confirmed through fingerprint scanning, revealing that he had escaped from an Orlando prison on May 22. He was serving a seven-year sentence for grand theft auto and drug-related offenses.
Following his arrest, Hall was taken to Lake County Jail where he was held without bond.
