The US Department of Justice has confirmed it is pursuing a four-count indictment against Texas doctor Dr. Eithan Haim, who blew the whistle on a transing scheme at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. Haim, a 34-year-old resident, discovered that physicians at the hospital were still performing castrations on pediatric patients during his rotations, despite the hospital claiming it had stopped the practice.

Haim leaked evidence of the deceptive activity to journalist Christopher Rufo in May 2023, along with proof that the hospital administration was promoting procedures to cut off the breasts and genitals of healthy people. The indictment alleges that Haim obtained protected health information for patients not under his care without authorization.

Prosecutors led by U.S. Attorney Tina Ansari, who has already been accused of a long list of misconduct in the investigation, claim Haim acted “under false pretenses and with intent to cause malicious harm to TCH.”

The prosecution will likely invoke the HIPPA Privacy Rule, which allows for the disclosure of protected health information in certain circumstances, such as to prevent or lessen a serious and imminent threat. Haim argues that the threat posed by medical professionals who were subjecting children to dangerous gender experiments was serious and imminent, and that he had a right to speak out.

Haim believes that the indictment is part of a broader effort by the Biden administration to silence whistleblowers and punish those who challenge dominant political ideologies. If convicted, the expectant father faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
