Democrats remain optimistic about America’s economy in the face of slowing growth and rising inflation.

A survey conducted a month ago by the Economist and YouGov revealed that 32% of Democrats believed the economy was improving. In contrast, 35% thought it was holding steady, and 28% felt it was worsening.

The most recent polls show a big partisan shift. The June 2-4 poll found that 40 percent of Democrats say the economy is getting better, 36 percent say it is staying the same, and 19 percent say it is getting worse.

These positive economic perceptions go against data indicating a slowdown in economic growth and fewer additions to payrolls.

Notably, this shift in outlook is not observed among other groups. Independent voters’ optimism remained unchanged at 10% from the previous month. Meanwhile, Republican confidence in economic improvement fell from 5% to 2%.
