Court Delays Opinion Release, Leaving Trump Immunity Case and Others Pending

The Supreme Court’s opinion release schedule has been extended, with Friday’s original announcement now allowing for opinions to continue into next week. The change comes after the court had previously set Wednesday as the final day for releasing opinions.

Despite Thursday’s trio of opinions, the court still has several remaining decisions to make, including the highly anticipated case involving former President Donald Trump’s immunity. Additionally, almost a dozen other cases are pending a decision.

In its latest batch of opinions, the court handed down several significant decisions, including a ruling allowing emergency abortions in Idaho, a limitation on the Securities and Exchange Commission’s powers, a rejection of Purdue Pharma’s $6 billion opioid settlement, and a strike-down of the Environmental Protection Agency’s “good neighbor” pollution rule.
