Former Donald Trump aide Corey Lewandowski is rejoining the presidential candidate’s campaign to assist with the Republican convention.

Lewandowski will support the Republican Party’s convention and delegate process, as reported by National Review.

“He’s very helpful to me, and he’s helpful to the RNC, and he’s helpful to the president,” Trump 2024 campaign adviser Chris LaCivita told the outlet.

Although the news was first reported on Tuesday, Lewandowski was actually hired last month. A Republican National Committee filing to the Federal Election Commission recorded a $20,000 payment to Lewandowski’s consulting firm on April 21, Politico reported.

Lewandowski’s relationship with Trump’s inner circle has been tumultuous, marked by several controversies. He served as Trump’s campaign manager for the 2016 presidential election until June 2016. He made national headlines in March of that year after grabbing the arm of Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields as she tried to approach Trump.

Despite his contentious history, Lewandowski continued to be involved in Trump’s orbit and worked with the administration. His last removal occurred in September 2021 after the wife of a notable GOP donor accused Lewandowski of making multiple unwanted sexual advances toward her at an event in Las Vegas.

Lewandowski stayed active on X, frequently posting praise for Trump until his recent hiring by the Trump campaign in April.
