Comedian Eddie Griffin recently expressed his skepticism towards the Democratic National Convention, questioning what the party would do for him and his community. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Griffin criticized the high-profile speakers at the convention, including former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle, saying that despite their presence, the Democrats failed to win him over.
Griffin poked fun at the convention, calling it a “jammy” and noting that the party had brought out its biggest names, including Bernie Sanders. However, he remained unimpressed, saying that the speeches were smooth but lacked substance.
“What are they going to do for us?” Griffin asked, expressing his frustration with the party’s failure to address the concerns of black Americans. “They’re telling us how great America is, but everybody’s struggling. People are broke, homeless, and can’t afford housing. It’s like they’re speaking to a different audience.”
Griffin also criticized the party’s lack of concrete plans, saying that they had failed to outline specific actions they would take to support the black community. In contrast, he praised former President Donald Trump for at least being clear about his intentions.
“Trump said what he was going to do for black people,” Griffin said. “He may not have done it, but at least he said it. The Democrats, on the other hand, are just talking about how great America is without offering any real solutions.”
Griffin’s comments are surprising, given his previous statements about Trump. In a 2015 interview, he said he would vote for anyone over Trump, even suggesting that he would support Kanye West if he ran for president.
