CNN’s Scott Jennings Calls Out Democrats for Blaming Trump for Country’s Problems

CNN political contributor Scott Jennings pushed back against the notion that former President Donald Trump is solely responsible for the country’s problems during a discussion following the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Jennings pointed out that Democrats have held the reins of power in the executive branch for a significant portion of the past 16 years, with former President Barack Obama serving from 2009 to 2017 and President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris taking over in 2021.

“I still see a glaring gap in all these speeches, and that is the fact that Kamala Harris is currently in the White House,” Jennings said. “Democrats have controlled the White House for 12 of the last 16 years, and yet they’re still blaming Trump for all the country’s problems.”

Jennings argued that it’s inconsistent for Democrats to claim that Trump is responsible for the country’s woes when they’ve had control of the executive branch for most of the past decade and a half. “Trump had it for four years, but the Obamas and Biden have had it for the rest of the time,” he said. “And yet, somehow it’s still all Trump’s fault, and somehow Kamala Harris hasn’t been at the center of it.”

Jennings believes that this is a major weakness in the Democratic campaign that has yet to be addressed. “How do you explain all the problems that are supposed to be solved by the person who has been in charge for the last three and a half years and is supposed to be already working on solving them?” he asked.
