Far-left billionaire George Soros is funding a media group that aims to increase censorship on Big Tech platforms before the 2024 U.S. presidential election, as reported by the Media Research Center (MRC). The group, Free Press, focuses on promoting positive social change, racial justice, and equitable access to technology to ensure fair journalism.

The liberal media group, not to be confused with journalist Bari Weiss’s Free Press, is supported financially by Soros. Free Press, along with other liberal media groups, recently co-signed a letter urging leading tech platforms like Discord, Google, Instagram, Meta, and YouTube to implement election-integrity policies to protect democracy worldwide.

The letter calls for measures such as enforcing rules against election lies and hate in political advertising, disclosing AI-generated political content, and holding public figures and political candidates to the same moderation standards as everyone else. Free Press Senior Counsel, Nora Benavidez, stated that the tech industry’s lack of safeguards on their platforms is having a dangerous impact on democracies globally.

MRC’s research revealed that Soros supports at least 45 of the letter’s signatories with over $80 million spent between 2016 and 2022. The conservative watchdog group raised concerns about Soros’ influence on silencing regular Americans ahead of the 2024 election through media censorship efforts.

The letter’s focus on interfering in the 2024 U.S. election raised suspicions regarding Soros’ involvement in election interference through online speech suppression. One of the signatories, Global Witness, received significant funding from Soros and has been pressuring social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok to increase censorship operations.

Another signee, the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, also received substantial funding from Soros and was involved in co-authoring a “hate groups” blacklist targeting conservative and faith-based organizations. MRC warned that Free Press’s close ties to Soros should be a concern for all Americans, as the organization’s push for censorship and control of the internet cannot be overlooked.

The Soros-funded network’s efforts to restrict free speech in anticipation of the U.S. elections highlight the need for vigilance among Americans against censorship.
