California Scorched by Record-Breaking Heat Wave: Palm Springs Reaches 124 Degrees

A scorching heat wave has engulfed California, with Palm Springs being the latest victim. The city sweltered under a record-breaking 124 degrees Fahrenheit (51 degrees Celsius) on Friday, shattering the previous mark of 123 degrees set in 2021.

The extreme temperatures are not limited to Palm Springs, with much of the inland region experiencing similar conditions. Temperatures in the region are particularly noteworthy, with the 124 degrees logged in Palm Springs being one of the hottest readings ever recorded outside of Death Valley, California.

The heat wave has also significantly increased the risk of wildfires, prompting concerned officials to take necessary precautions. Surprisingly, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) chose to leave the state, first to visit the White House and offer support to President Joe Biden. Biden, meanwhile, is facing mounting pressure following a recent debate with former President Donald Trump, with some calling for him to step down.
