A California school district is taking extra precautions after two consecutive days of incidents involving groups of individuals attempting to board school buses. On Tuesday, a trio of men attempted to stop a bus on Highway 94, prompting the driver to take evasive action.

The following day, a group of approximately 20 individuals was spotted near a bus stop, leading parents to intervene and prevent them from boarding the bus. The Jamul-Dulzura Union School District has since announced that buses will bypass stops where migrants are present, instead proceeding to the next scheduled stop.

In a letter to parents, Superintendent Liz Bystedt emphasized the importance of prioritizing student safety and urged families to remain vigilant. “If the bus drives by, please follow it to the next stop to collect your child,” she advised.

One parent, Nicole Cardinale, described the incident as “really scary” after her 8-year-old son recounted the experience. According to Cardinale, the individuals attempting to board the bus were adults carrying backpacks, and there were “a lot of them.”

The San Diego Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incidents to determine if any crimes were committed. In a statement, spokesperson Kimberly King emphasized the department’s commitment to student safety and its collaboration with the school district to ensure the well-being of students and the community.
