Biden’s Speech on Trump Assassination Attempt Marred by Verbal Mistakes and Gaffes

In a Sunday evening address, President Joe Biden attempted to diffuse the political tensions following the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. However, his speech was marred by a series of verbal mistakes and gaffes.

Biden mentioned “the Battle Box” as a metaphor for resolving differences peacefully. He emphasized the importance of keeping power in the hands of the people, rather than allowing violence to dictate outcomes.

“Tonight, I’m asking every American to recommit to make America so….make America….well, think about it, what’s made America so special,” Biden said, appearing to stumble on trying to find a way to say, “make America Great Again” without using those words.

Biden also referred to Trump as “former Trump” during the speech. This incident adds to a growing list of Biden’s public speaking blunders.

Just last month, the president’s May press conference with Kenyan President William Ruto featured numerous gaffes, including an instance where he misidentified Vice President Kamala Harris as the “nation’s first black president.” More recently, during a solo press conference, Biden confused Harris with “Vice President Donald Trump”, and he incorrectly introduced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Prior to that, at an event in Ireland, Biden encouraged the crowd to “lick the world,” apparently in reference to cooperation between the United States and Ireland. The numerous missteps have led some to question Biden’s ability to effectively communicate his message.
