Rep. Brad Schneider (D-IL) discussed President Joe Biden’s press conference on CNN’s “The Source” Thursday, expressing mixed thoughts on the event. While acknowledging Biden’s strong performance, Schneider reiterated his earlier call for Biden to withdraw from the 2024 presidential election.
When host Kaitlan Collins asked if Schneider’s opinion changed following the press conference, he replied, “No, I think the President did a fine job. He demonstrated a solid understanding of domestic and foreign policy issues and highlighted notable contrasts with former President Trump.”
However, Schneider emphasized his primary concern: the need for stability and a smooth transition. He believes the President should step down, saying, “We can’t have a situation where, every day, we’re holding our breath, whether it’s a press conference, a debate, or a rally. We’re at a historic moment where the President can pass the torch to the next generation, not only unite the Democratic Party but also the country, and instead of struggling to the finish line at the end of the election, we can run to the finish and win with a strong mandate.”
