Last Thursday, President Biden spoke out against the violence and antisemitism on college campuses across the country. To back up his words with action, legislation should be passed to prohibit the Department of Education from assuming or modifying student loans for students responsible for acts of antisemitism, trespassing, property damage, intimidation, or violence.

The push for student loan forgiveness has contributed to the current unrest on college campuses, leading to students feeling entitled and less concerned about consequences for their actions. This has also led to a decline in the quality of education and ideological balance on campuses.

By continuing to push for loan forgiveness despite opposition and boasting about bypassing the Supreme Court’s ruling, President Biden sets a dangerous example for demonstrators on campus. Congress can restore order by cutting off financial support for those involved in chaos and violence.

Prohibiting student loan forgiveness would act as a deterrent for students and university officials, without infringing on their right to free speech. This practical solution is more reasonable than extreme measures and sends a clear message about consequences for disruptive behavior on campuses.
