Baltimore Immigration and Customs Enforcement has reported a record-breaking number of arrests of noncitizen sex offenders in the city. According to the agency’s Office of Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), a total of 161 offenders have been taken into custody this fiscal year, surpassing the previous record of 152.
The latest arrests bring the total number of noncitizen sex offenders apprehended by ERO Baltimore to a new high, with three individuals being taken into custody just last Thursday. Acting Baltimore ERO field office director Matthew Elliston praised the efforts of his team, saying they are “the best in the business at locating and apprehending egregious noncitizen offenders.”
Elliston expressed pride in the work of his officers, noting that the 161 arrests are not only a significant achievement but also a testament to the agency’s commitment to protecting the community. “What we find most rewarding, however, is that tonight there are 161 victims that no longer have to live in fear,” he said.
