A group of California agencies and wildlife experts joined forces to rescue a baby bald eagle that had fallen from its nest in Orangevale. The eaglet, hatched in late March, was closely followed by local station KCRA 3 before the incident occurred.
The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, along with State Parks, Fish and Game, California Wildlife Encounters, and an arborist from Sierra Pacific Tree Services, worked together to save the eaglet, which had fallen about 100 feet from its nest above the American River. The rescue operation, which took place at around 3:42 p.m., was captured in a video shared by the fire department.
After the successful rescue, the eaglet was taken to Gold Country Wildlife Rescue for care. An avian veterinarian from Bird of Prey Health Group will assess the eaglet to determine whether it can be re-nested or if it needs ongoing care. The collaborative efforts of the agencies and experts involved in the rescue were crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of the baby bald eagle.
