Green Party presidential candidate Dr. Jill Stein, along with her campaign managers Jason Call and Kelly Merrill-Cayer, were among more than 100 people arrested at an anti-Israel protest on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Stein recorded a video expressing her support for the students standing up for democracy, human rights, and to end genocide before she was arrested.
Footage from the protest shows police officers using a bicycle as a barricade and forcibly removing Stein and other demonstrators. The protest was demanding the university to divest from Boeing, which manufactures munitions used in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
According to Fox News, Stein’s campaign supported the demands of the students and their peaceful protest. More than 100 people were arrested at the protest, similar demonstrations were taking place at other campuses across the country.
University of Texas at Austin recently suspended their Palestine Solidarity Committee after multiple trespassing arrests during campus protests. Anti-Israel protests have also taken place at George Washington University in DC and Columbia University in NYC, leading to arrests and disruptions in normal class schedules.
Overall, the nationwide protests were driven by concerns over the ongoing conflict in Gaza and Palestinian rights.
