Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, known for her portrayal of Vice President Selina Meyer in the HBO series Veep, has announced her plans to be “extra-involved” in the Kamala Harris presidential campaign in the coming months.

In a recent interview with the Sunday Times, Louis-Dreyfus expressed her enthusiasm for the Harris campaign, stating that she will be taking an active role in supporting the Democratic nominee. She also hinted at the possibility of attending the Democratic National Convention in Chicago later this month, saying “I probably will be, yes.”

The Emmy-winning actress was less reserved in her comments about Republican Vice Presidential candidate J.D. Vance, labeling him a “fucking idiot” in response to a question about his views on women. Louis-Dreyfus’s criticism of Vance was sparked by a leading question from the Times reporter, which referenced the stereotype of “childless cat ladies.”

Following the interview, Louis-Dreyfus reportedly recorded a get-out-the-vote promotion, further solidifying her commitment to the Harris campaign. Her involvement in the campaign is not surprising, given her history of supporting Democratic candidates. In 2020, she campaigned vigorously for Joe Biden, although she was noticeably quiet about his candidacy during his re-election bid.

With Biden no longer in the running, Louis-Dreyfus is among a number of Hollywood stars who are now throwing their support behind Harris. A virtual fundraiser for Harris is scheduled to take place on Monday, featuring a lineup of comedians including Ben Stiller, Patton Oswalt, Kathy Griffin, and Rosie O’Donnell. The event follows a successful “White Dudes for Harris” fundraiser, which raised over $4 million and featured a number of high-profile celebrities, including Jeff Bridges, Mark Hamill, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
