Over 200 migrants, primarily from Africa and Venezuela, took over Powell Barnett Park in Seattle and set up a tent encampment, demanding free housing, food, and other necessities. The group, led by Republic of Congo Central African native Don Tstay, stated they will not leave until their demands are met. Activist groups were present to assist the migrants, who were previously evicted from free housing at a motel in Kent. Despite city officials acknowledging the situation and promising to address the migrants’ needs, a sense of uncertainty surrounds the camp as residents wait for a resolution. The encampment has sparked debate and prompted calls for donations of tents, blankets, and tarps from the public.
