Mariela Castro, the daughter of Cuba’s elderly communist dictator Raúl Castro, led a “Conga Against Homophobia” event over the weekend with a focus on opposing Israel’s actions against the terrorist organization Hamas. She is known for promoting communist ideology within Cuba’s LGBTQ community and attempting to improve the regime’s image, despite its history of mistreating LGBTQ individuals. The annual “Cuban Conga Against Homophobia and Transphobia” event, organized by Mariela Castro, took place with a pro-Palestine theme this year. Participants expressed support for the Castro regime’s “gay rights” while also backing the Palestinian cause against Israel. Castro stated that the event supports a “free Palestine” and denounced Israel, using slogans that call for the destruction of the state and its people. She defended the support for Hamas, claiming it does not conflict with LGBTQ rights and highlighted the need to continue advancing social progress once Palestine is free.
