A church in West Columbia, South Carolina, was recently vandalized with red spray-paint, displaying messages like “Save Gaza” and “Free Palestine.” The Suburban Baptist Church on Holland Street, a small congregation of about 25 members, was also defaced with the phrase “Welcome to Hell” and an inappropriate image on its doors. The senior pastor, Tracy McGee, expressed confusion over the incident, speculating that it may have been the work of individuals simply looking for trouble in the neighborhood.

Despite the act of vandalism, the church has received support from the community and even a Palestinian-American who offered to help repair the damage. West Columbia Mayor Tem Miles attended a Sunday service at the church and assured that the incident is under investigation. The church has also been flooded with support from various parts of the country, showing solidarity in the face of adversity. Pastor Elijah Smalls focused his sermon on love and forgiveness following the incident, emphasizing the importance of kindness and understanding in these divisive times.
