Amazon Unveils Revamped Echo Spot Ahead of Prime Day

Amazon has officially announced an updated version of the Echo Spot, a smart alarm clock that integrates with Alexa. The new model features a unique design, with a hemispherical display and speaker combination on the front face. This design departure from the original Echo Spot, which was discontinued in 2019, promises improved sound quality and a sharper display.

The revamped Echo Spot boasts enhanced audio capabilities and a more vibrant display, although it remains to be seen if it will inherit the screen flicker issues that plagued its predecessor. The device’s primary function remains the same, serving as a basic smart alarm clock that can perform tasks such as providing weather forecasts and displaying song titles when playing music from popular streaming services.

A notable change from the original model is the absence of a camera. The previous Echo Spot featured a built-in camera, which was useful for video chats, but not all users were comfortable with having a camera in their bedroom.

The Echo Spot will be available in three colors: Black, Glacier White, and Ocean Blue. The display can be customized with six different hues, which can be paired with various clock faces. The device will retail for $80, a $50 reduction from the original model’s price. Prime members will have the opportunity to purchase the Echo Spot for $45 during Prime Day.
