Donald Trump is reportedly in negotiations to address the largest Bitcoin conference of the year, a move that has sparked curiosity among industry insiders and libertarians. According to two sources familiar with the matter, the former president has expressed interest in speaking at the event, which is scheduled to take place in Nashville, Tennessee, from July 25 to July 27.
Trump’s appearance would add to the impressive lineup of speakers, which already includes notable figures such as presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, and Senators Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn. Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has previously spoken at the conference.
The former president’s interest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency has been a notable shift from his first term in office. Trump has been courting libertarians and embracing cryptocurrency as a viable alternative to traditional currencies. At a recent rally in Wisconsin, Trump pledged to “end Joe Biden’s war on crypto” and ensure that the future of Bitcoin is “made in America.”
Crypto investors have been generous in their support for Trump, donating millions to his campaign in both cryptocurrency and traditional currency. Last week, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, prominent cryptocurrency investors, endorsed Trump and donated the equivalent of one million dollars in cryptocurrency to his campaign. However, a campaign official later revealed that the donation exceeded the maximum allowed by an individual, resulting in a partial refund.
Tyler Winklevoss wrote a lengthy endorsement of Trump, citing the Biden administration’s perceived hostility towards cryptocurrency. He described Trump as the “pro-Bitcoin, pro-crypto, and pro-business choice,” and urged the “crypto army” to support the former president in the upcoming election.
