A recent poll by the Pew Research Center highlighted significant differences in views on marriage, family, and social issues between supporters of former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.
Released on June 6, the poll revealed stark contrasts in opinions. Nearly 60% of Trump supporters, including 54% of female supporters, believe society benefits when marriage and family are prioritized. In contrast, only 19% of Biden supporters share this view.
Regarding the tradition of women taking their husband’s last name, 37% of Trump supporters expressed discomfort if women choose not to, while this sentiment dropped to 13% among Biden supporters.
On the topic of abortion, the poll showed that 42% of Biden supporters believe it should be legal in most or all cases, compared to just 9% of Trump supporters who agree. Conversely, 61% of Trump supporters think abortion should be illegal in all or most cases, while only 12% of Biden supporters hold this view.
The issue of declining birth rates also elicited differing concerns. Forty-seven percent of Trump supporters are worried about declining birth rates, whereas only 23% of Biden supporters share this concern. Nearly half of Biden supporters view declining birth rates as neither good nor bad, with over a quarter considering it a positive trend.
Stephen Moore, co-founder of The Committee to Unleash Prosperity, wrote on X, “1 in 12 Biden voters with a college degree think society should prioritize families. Amazing that basically half the country doesn’t believe in propagating the human race.”
