WNBA sensation Brittney Griner recently took to Instagram to share a celebratory moment, posting a topless photo with her wife Cherelle in anticipation of their first child’s arrival.
Cherelle was dressed in a taupe lingerie set, complemented by a sheer fabric draped around her shoulders and arms. Griner, who has been selected to represent Team USA in Women’s basketball despite minimal game appearances this season, has also made headlines for her outspoken views. Last month, she expressed her astonishment at criticisms labeling her anti-American, especially given her frequent calls for social justice and choice not to stand for the national anthem.
Griner, whose father is a Vietnam War Marine and a long-serving law enforcement officer, shared how these personal connections deepen her patriotism. “My dad fought for this country, which makes me want to follow in his footsteps, not necessarily by serving in the military or in law enforcement but by utilizing my right to protest,” Griner explained during an appearance on The View. She emphasized her stance as an embodiment of American values, voicing her surprise at being considered un-American.
Despite the backlash, Griner remained firm in her decision to protest during the national anthem, stating her commitment to activism throughout the season and advocating for the discontinuation of the anthem at league games.
