A family in Charlotte, North Carolina, was surprised when their toddler started talking about a “monster” in her bedroom. Initially, they thought it was just her imagination from watching the movie “Monsters, Inc.” and living in a 100-year-old farmhouse with its own quirks.

The mystery unfolded when the family noticed an increase in bees near their home. They called in beekeeper Curtis Collins to investigate and he used a thermal imaging camera to locate a massive hive in the daughter’s bedroom wall, spanning from floor to ceiling.

The family shared a video on TikTok showing the bees swarming in the room, and they have been slowly removing the bees as extermination is not an option due to their endangered status. The toddler has temporarily moved to another room.

Honeybees are described as “social insects” that live in nests or hives, storing honey, nectar, and pollen. While the family’s routine has been disrupted by the bees, they are grateful for the opportunity to educate their daughter about the insects she had been hearing.
