MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 27-year-old woman is facing charges of carjacking after allegedly forcing an Uber driver out of his vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Faith-Ann Mittons, the accused, was picked up from a hotel on Summer Avenue by the driver, who had been dispatched to transport her. However, Mittons allegedly told the driver she didn’t have a destination in mind, instead wanting to ride around and listen to music. The driver accommodated her request, driving her around for an extended period before returning her to the hotel.

But when the driver got out of the vehicle to drop Mittons off, she allegedly forced him out and fled the scene in the 2017 Ford Focus. A security guard at the hotel later identified the suspect’s identity to police.

Hours later, officers spotted the stolen vehicle on I-40 and Sycamore View, conducting a traffic stop that resulted in Mittons’ arrest. Her bond has been set at $75,000, and she is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
