Despite rumors circulating Thursday, President Joe Biden’s campaign chairwoman, Jen O’Malley Dillon, reaffirmed Friday that he will not be exiting the 2024 race. In an interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe, O’Malley Dillon denied reports claiming the president was reconsidering his re-election bid, citing his declining poll numbers.

O’Malley Dillon attributed the “slippage in support” to the first presidential debate and the intense competition ahead of Election Day. She maintained that the Biden campaign is “built for the close election that we’re in” and emphasized their path to victory. Acknowledging the recent leak of internal debates within the party regarding Biden’s continued candidacy, O’Malley Dillon stressed that a diverse coalition of Democrats remains committed to Biden’s nomination.

However, speculation continues to circulate about a possible exit from the race. News outlets have reported that Biden’s closest advisors are discussing strategies for the president to bow out, and at least one family member is said to have started conversations on the matter.

Responding to these reports, O’Malley Dillon emphasized that the momentum remains with the president, citing Biden’s broad base of support within the Democratic Party. Despite the challenges he has faced, she expressed confidence in Biden’s ability to rebound and win in 2024.
