Apple is set to commence its weeklong World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) with the traditional keynote at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT on June 10. This presentation will highlight the company’s software products and the developers behind them, featuring the latest updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS.

In recent years, critics have observed that Apple appears to be lagging behind competitors like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI in the field of generative AI research. CEO Tim Cook has pledged to address this issue, and WWDC, held at Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, offers a prime opportunity.

Current rumors indicate a possible deal with GPT-developer OpenAI, aimed at improving Apple’s standing in the AI landscape. Speculation also surrounds the AI enhancements expected in iOS 18.

While new hardware isn’t always guaranteed at this software-centric event, Apple has frequently introduced hardware updates in recent years, including Apple Silicon advancements and the notable Vision Pro launch last year.

However, the latest rumors suggest that this year may not feature new hardware, despite growing pressure following a tepid response to Apple’s initial foray into mixed reality and the termination of its electric car project.
