In a bizarre incident, a wanted man was apprehended by police in Elmira, New York after he fell through an apartment ceiling while attempting to evade capture. The Elmira Police Department received a call at approximately 6:26 p.m. on July 12 regarding the presence of George Wilson, a wanted individual.

Upon arrival, officers surrounded the apartment building and attempted to make contact with Wilson. However, just minutes later, a tenant emerged and informed the police that Wilson had dropped into their apartment from the attic. The officers secured the apartment and continued to call out to Wilson, urging him to surrender.

A K9 Unit from the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office was deployed to assist in the search, and after a brief search, Wilson was located and taken into custody without incident. The 37-year-old was wanted on three felony charges: third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell), second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Additionally, Wilson was also wanted on a separate warrant for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. He was arrested and is currently being held at the Chemung County Jail pending a court appearance on the Chemung County Court warrant.
