As the presidential election enters its final stretch, a new poll from ABC News and Ipsos reveals a significant gap between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris on the crucial issues of the economy and inflation. Despite efforts by Harris and the Democrats to chip away at Trump’s advantage, the Republican candidate maintains a strong lead.

According to the poll, 45% of registered voters trust Trump more on the economy, with 33% expressing strong confidence in his economic policies. In contrast, just 37% of voters trust Harris more, with only 21% expressing strong support for her economic vision. These numbers have remained largely unchanged over the past two months, indicating that voters have largely made up their minds on which candidate is better equipped to manage the economy.

The situation is similarly bleak for Harris on the issue of inflation. While 36% of voters trust her to tackle inflation, 44% prefer Trump, with the numbers showing little change from previous surveys. Harris has argued that Trump’s tariffs would drive up consumer prices, but the public has largely rejected this view, consistently favoring Trump on issues related to the economy, inflation, tariffs, and trade.

The economy looms large in the minds of voters, with 90% saying it will be a very important factor in their decision come election day. As the campaign enters its final days, it remains to be seen whether Harris can find a way to bridge the gap with Trump on these critical issues.
