Trump’s Campaign Challenges Biden to Monthly Debate

0:00

The Trump campaign has challenged President Joe Biden to participate in one debate per month from June to September. They believe this will give voters maximum exposure to each candidate’s records and future visions. In a memo, the campaign celebrated Biden finally accepting the debate challenge, with Trump already accepting an invitation for a June 27 CNN debate and proposing a September debate.

However, the Trump campaign feels that two debates are not enough and is proposing debates in June, July, August, and September. They argue that with issues like inflation, border security, and chaos at home and abroad, more debates are necessary. The campaign emphasized the importance of additional dates for voters to learn about the candidates and criticized the Biden administration’s offerings.

In contrast, the Biden campaign released a letter stating that Biden only intends to participate in two debates and will not take part in the Commission on Presidential Debates’ events in 2024. They prefer debates hosted by news organizations without a live audience, arguing that large, raucous audiences are unnecessary distractions and not conducive to good debates.

Trump had previously criticized Biden as the “WORST debater” he has ever faced. The debate schedules and preferences of both campaigns will likely impact how voters engage with the candidates in the upcoming election.
