Trump Touts Overtime Tax Cut as Boon for Hardworking Americans

In a bid to woo working-class voters, former President Donald Trump has unveiled a plan to eliminate taxes on overtime pay for individuals who put in more than 40 hours of work per week.

Speaking to a crowd in Arizona, Trump touted the proposal as a way to incentivize hard work and ease the burden on companies. “We’re going to end all taxes on overtime,” he declared. “That’s a big deal. It’s a big deal for the people who work hard, and it’s a big deal for the companies that need them.”

However, the Harris campaign swiftly rebuked the idea, labeling it a “desperate” ploy. In a statement, Harris spokesperson Joseph Costello blasted Trump’s record on workers’ rights, accusing him of having “stolen millions of dollars of wages” from hardworking Americans during his presidency.

“Trump is scrambling to say whatever it takes to trick people into voting for him,” Costello charged. “But the truth is, he only looks out for himself and his wealthy friends. Vice President Kamala Harris is the only candidate who will truly fight for workers’ rights.”

The Trump campaign has previously pushed back against the Harris-Walz campaign’s claim that Trump “blocked overtime for millions of workers,” setting the record straight on the issue.
