Former President Donald Trump’s super PAC, Make America Great Again Inc., has now joined the popular social media platform TikTok under the username @MAGA. This move marks the first Trump-affiliated TikTok account and aims to broaden his presence on various social media platforms. In contrast, President Joe Biden’s campaign already has an established presence on TikTok.
According to MAGA Inc. CEO Taylor Budowich, the @MAGA account on TikTok will focus on delivering President Donald J. Trump’s pro-freedom, pro-America agenda by sharing relevant facts and stories with millions of users on the platform. One of MAGA’s initial TikTok posts criticized Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on various topics, including his past support of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Although TikTok gained popularity before the 2020 election, the Trump campaign had initially refrained from using the app due to security concerns related to its Chinese ownership. The Trump administration even considered banning TikTok, prompting Congress to vote on potentially banning the app if not sold by 2025.
Recent developments have seen Trump reversing his stance on TikTok, acknowledging it as a national security threat but opposing a ban. He expressed concerns that banning TikTok could benefit other social media platforms like Facebook, which he referred to as the “enemy of the people.”
The decision to join TikTok was strategic, aimed at preventing Biden from gaining a significant advantage over the Trump campaign by leveraging the app’s reach. MAGA Inc. is determined not to concede any platform to Biden and the Democrats, pledging to ensure President Trump’s America First agenda reaches every corner of the internet and every community in the country.
