Former President Donald Trump suggested that Democrat Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg should drop the business records case against him on Thursday evening. Trump mentioned on Truth Social that dropping the case would save money and protect the reputation of the District Attorney’s office, allowing them to focus on addressing violent crime in New York.
This suggestion from Trump followed a challenging day for Bragg in court, where Trump’s defense team questioned the prosecution’s key witness, Michael Cohen. They were able to undermine a crucial claim regarding a hush money deal with Stormy Daniels by showing that Cohen’s phone call on October 26, 2016, was actually about a prank caller and did not mention the deal. Despite Cohen’s assertion that he could have spoken to both Trump and his bodyguard in the short call, he couldn’t confirm if he did speak to Trump.
Trump also criticized Judge Juan Merchan, insinuating that Merchan’s daughter’s involvement in digital campaigns for Democrat candidates could influence his decisions. Trump questioned how Merchan would explain a potential loss in the case to the Radical Left Democrats and called for “justice in America” to prevent election interference.
