A gathering of Latino leaders in Florida on Tuesday witnessed a show of enthusiasm for former President Donald Trump, culminating in a standing ovation during a lively roundtable discussion.

Max Alvarez, CEO of Sunshine Gasoline Distributors, was instrumental in sparking the ovation with his effusive praise for Trump. Alvarez hailed the former President as the singular figure capable of combating oppression and championing the freedoms of the American people. He highlighted Trump’s resilience, noting that despite facing unimaginable challenges, Trump consistently emerges with a defiant spirit, exemplified by his response to adversity, symbolically captured in the phrase, “Fight, fight, fight.”

This passionate endorsement prompted the roundtable attendees to rise from their seats, applauding in a display of solidarity with Alvarez’s sentiments. The CEO further expressed unwavering confidence in Trump’s ability to tackle the nation’s problems, asserting, “The day Mr. Donald J. Trump takes office again, I guarantee at least half of our current issues will be resolved on day one.”

Alvarez also underscored the importance of proactive engagement, juxtaposing the need for prayer with the imperative to take action. “While prayer is crucial, merely praying is insufficient; we must also fight for our causes,” he emphasized, reiterating the “Fight, fight, fight” mantra.

These sentiments come against the backdrop of shifting Latino voter allegiances. A recent New York Times/Siena College poll revealed Vice President Kamala Harris trailing her Democratic predecessors in terms of Latino support, with 56% of Hispanic voters backing her, compared to 37% for Trump.

Historical context provided by The Hill indicates a decline in Democratic support among Hispanic voters, from 68% in 2016 to 62% in 2020. Furthermore, an Equis poll from June suggested that among Latino voters, Trump is perceived as more trustworthy than President Joe Biden on the pivotal issue of immigration.
