Trump Blasts Harris’s Economic Policies, Claims They’ll Lead to 80% Tax Rate

Former President Donald Trump issued a stark warning on X, cautioning that if Vice President Kamala Harris is elected president, the country’s economic woes will intensify exponentially. Trump claimed that Harris’s economic plan would lead to “Soviet-style price controls” and the abolition of private healthcare.

Trump’s post highlighted the potential consequences of a Harris presidency, asserting that her policies would result in a significant increase in taxes and a decrease in personal freedoms. He warned that Harris’s plan would lead to a massive tax hike, with Americans potentially facing a tax burden of up to 80% of their income.

Trump’s criticism of Harris’s economic policies comes as she has unveiled a series of proposals, including price controls on grocery items and a $25,000 down payment for first-time homebuyers. Harris has also borrowed from Trump’s own campaign promises, including a plan to raise the child tax credit and eliminate taxes on tips.

However, Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), was the first to propose expanding the child tax credit to $5,000, which Harris later proposed increasing to $6,000. Additionally, Harris’s past support for eliminating private healthcare insurance has raised concerns about her commitment to preserving individual freedoms.

In 2019, Harris expressed her support for eliminating private healthcare insurance while serving as a California senator. She also co-sponsored Sen. Bernie Sanders’ “Medicare for All” legislation, which would have abolished private healthcare insurance and led to delays in care.

Despite her previous stance, Harris’s campaign officials reportedly told the New York Times in July that she no longer supports a single-payer health insurance program.
