Transgender Activists Flood Tip Line in Protest of Bathroom Law

Transgender activists in Utah are reportedly inundating a tip line in protest of a new bathroom law that requires individuals to use the restroom corresponding to their biological sex rather than gender identity. Governor Spencer Cox signed House Bill 257, which applies sex-based designations for privacy in certain facilities like schools. However, transgender activists are flooding the tip line with fake violations to undermine enforcement, causing Auditor John Dougall’s office to receive 10,000 bogus tips. Dougall clarified that his office investigates alleged violations by government entities, not private individuals, and emphasized that his office did not seek to monitor bathrooms. He urged constituents to direct their concerns to the bill sponsor and legislators, as they have the power to revise the law.
