Multiple tornadoes battered Oklahoma on Sunday night, leaving a path of destruction across the Sooner State.
The storms were first reported in western Oklahoma with one tornado touching down in Roger Mills County and another hitting the town of Custer City, according to News 9.
A tornado destroyed a house in Blaine County late Sunday night, leaving two people injured. The local fire department was able to rescue the victims from their house and transport them to a nearby hospital, KOCO News 5 reported.
Other counties throughout the state issued warnings for strong storms with the potential for 60 miles per hour wind gusts and golf ball-sized hail, according to multiple reports. There were also reports of multiple houses suffering extensive damage and a jackknifed tractor trailer crash that left the front part of the truck suspended “20 feet in the air” due to the extreme weather conditions.
The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management posted on X that up to 15 homes were damaged due to the storms.
“Custer County Emergency Management reports 10-15 homes were damaged between Custer City and Hydro,” the post read. “Three homes were damaged in Butler. Two people were injured. Weatherford Emergency Management and Fire Department assisted with search and rescue efforts.”
Multiple storm warnings were issued for areas around Oklahoma throughout the early morning, according to several sources.
