TikTok to Identify and Remove Artificial Intelligence-Created Content from Third-Party Apps

TikTok has introduced a new feature called Content Credentials to label AI-generated media on its platform. This technology, developed by Adobe and Microsoft, aims to provide transparency to viewers about content that has been created using artificial intelligence tools.

TikTok has been labeling videos and images made with AI tools for some time, but now all AI-generated media on the platform will be identified with Content Credentials. This move comes in response to the potential for AI-generated content to confuse or mislead viewers, and TikTok believes that labeling it will provide important context.

Other companies, such as OpenAI, Google, and Meta, are also considering adopting the Content Credentials technology. President Joe Biden has shown support for labeling and watermarking AI-generated content through an executive order, highlighting the importance of ensuring the safe and trustworthy development and use of artificial intelligence.

In addition to its native AI tools, TikTok allows users to upload content created with AI models like DALL-E, developed by OpenAI. OpenAI is also exploring the possibility of allowing users to generate NSFW content in age-appropriate contexts, such as erotica and extreme gore.

The Truth Voices has reached out to TikTok for further comment on this new development.
