Three Atlanta police officers were shot on Saturday just after 5 p.m. A suspect armed with a handgun was killed during the incident. The officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
According to ABC News, the police received a call about a man with a gun. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the man armed with both a gun and a knife. An exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in three officers being wounded and the suspect being killed.
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum stated, “[The officers] did encounter an individual that’s armed with a handgun and a knife. During that encounter, there was a struggle.”
As of late Saturday, one officer has been released from the hospital. The incident is still under investigation by the authorities.
