The families of victims of illegal alien crimes are demanding answers after a twice-deported individual was able to repeatedly enter the United States, leading to the death of 29-year-old Grayson Davis in Bastrop County, Texas. The accused, Jorge Miguel Peralta, 35, was arrested this month and charged with intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle, a second-degree felony.

Peralta’s family is not immune to the devastating consequences of his actions. “I’m begging that someone watching understands that this cannot continue. It’s not okay,” said Angel Mom Ashley Davis, Grayson’s mother, in an emotional appeal to local media. “This is all about making change so it doesn’t happen again because it’s not fair to the family and it’s not fair to Grayson.”

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rep. Michael Cloud (R-TX), and State Rep. Stan Gerdes (R-HD17) have joined forces to demand an investigation into how Peralta was able to repeatedly enter the United States, despite being twice deported under the Obama and Trump administrations. In 2021, Peralta illegally crossed the southern border again and successfully entered the country, as have more than two million other “got-aways.”

The Republicans are calling on President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to open a probe into how Peralta was able to repeatedly enter the country. “The lives of American citizens appear to be a secondary concern for the Biden-Harris administration, whose priorities lie in shielding criminal illegal migrants rather than safeguarding our communities,” Cloud said.

Gerdes echoed Cloud’s sentiments, stating, “ICE’s refusal to provide answers only underscores a troubling, systemic disregard for our nation’s laws.” The Republicans are seeking answers from DHS officials on whether federal immigrant officers knew Peralta had crossed the border and the failures that allowed him to remain in the country despite his prior deportations.

Peralta’s alleged crimes have left a trail of devastation in his wake. He remains at the Bastrop County Jail, with ICE agents having placed a detainer on him, requesting custody if he is released from jail at any time. The investigation into Peralta’s actions continues, with the Republicans vowing to hold the Biden-Harris administration accountable for their handling of the border crisis.
