Authorities in Montgomery County have filed charges against a man in relation to the death of a 3-month-old infant last month. Melvin Jesus Aquino Enriquez has been charged with injury to a child causing serious bodily harm after an investigation began on April 14 when the injured infant was brought to a local hospital. Enriquez was already in custody on a related charge at the Montgomery County Jail.

The investigation led authorities to a residence on Needham Road in Porter, where Enriquez lived with the baby and the mother. Investigators determined that Enriquez had assaulted the infant through strangulation and he was subsequently arrested. Three days later, Enriquez was charged with the infant’s death.

The infant passed away on April 21 at the hospital. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit is awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death and potential additional charges. Enriquez is being held on a $750,000 bond and is under an ICE hold due to his immigration status.
