SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. — Lindsey Lowe, a Tennessee woman, who suffocated her newborn twins in 2011, has had her murder conviction reinstated by a judge.
In October 2022, a Sumner County Judge granted a new trial for Lowe following claims from her attorney about inadequate legal representation during her initial trial and the presence of at least one biased juror.
The Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals found no evidence of a biased juror and as a result, reinstated Lowe’s conviction.
Lowe has already served nine years of her 56-year sentence and was released on her own recognizance in 2022, under the condition that she remained with her parents.
During the trial, it was revealed that Lowe concealed her pregnancy and murdered her twins shortly after their birth on a toilet at her parents’ house in Sumner County in September 2011. She was arrested two months later.
