Former President Donald Trump has announced plans to visit Springfield, Ohio, within the next two weeks, amidst a controversy surrounding claims that Haitians are eating people’s pets, which has been widely debated.
Trump, known for his unconventional style, made a tongue-in-cheek comment about his potential visit, saying, “You may never see me again, but that’s OK, gotta do what I gotta do.” His statement was met with skepticism, with some wondering if he would actually follow through on his promise.
However, Springfield Mayor Rob Rue, a RINO, expressed concerns about the potential visit, citing the financial burden it would place on the town’s resources. “It would be an extreme strain on our resources,” he said, suggesting that it would be acceptable if presidential candidates from either party chose not to visit Springfield.
Conservatives criticized the mayor’s comments, arguing that they were not a valid reason to discourage a visit from a presidential candidate.
The controversy surrounding Trump’s potential visit comes on the heels of a statement from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine, who announced that recent bomb threats targeting Springfield were all hoaxes. “Thirty-three threats; Thirty-three hoaxes,” DeWine said during a press conference in Springfield. “I want to make that very, very clear. None of these had any validity at all.”
DeWine attributed the fake threats to foreign actors, stating, “We have people unfortunately overseas who are taking these actions. Some of them are coming from one particular country.”
