Spotify Premium Price in the US Rising to $11.99/Month

Spotify has announced that it’s raising subscription prices for U.S. customers, marking the second increase within a year.

The music-streaming service reports that premium rates will rise in July from $10.99 to $11.99, marking an almost 10% jump. The Duo and Family plans will increase to $16.99 and $19.99, with respective increases of $2 and $3. The student plan will stay at $5.99 per month.

This increase comes after a similar announcement last July, when Spotify disclosed numerous price hikes globally, including in the U.S., where the ad-free premium plan increased from $9.99 to $10.99 per month.

Spotify stated that premium subscribers will receive an email about the price hike in the coming month, but it’s somewhat unclear who the increase will affect. On one hand, it indicates that all premium subscribers will get the email, but it also states the new pricing will apply only to “new subscribers.”

Truth Voices has contacted Spotify for clarification and will provide updates as they become available.
