Alex Soros Backs Kamala Harris: Billionaire Democrat Donor Throws Support Behind VP

Alex Soros, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Open Society Foundations, swiftly threw his support behind Vice President Kamala Harris after Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race. In a social media post, Soros declared, “It’s time for us all to unite around Kamala Harris and beat Donald Trump. She is the best and most qualified candidate we have. Long live the American Dream! #Harris2024.”

The endorsement came following Biden’s decision to step down from the race, citing pressure from within the Democrat Party, grassroots supporters, and the donor class. Soros, who recently announced his engagement to Hillary Clinton’s former aide Huma Abedin, has long been a supporter of the Biden administration.

As a prominent Democrat donor, Soros has had extensive access to the White House, having visited 15 times and met with administration officials on 20 different occasions as of July last year. He was also invited to a state dinner for French President Emmanuel Macron.

Soros has been vocal about his opposition to Donald Trump and “MAGA-style” Republicans, stating that their victory would imperil European unity and undermine progress achieved in response to the war in Ukraine. He has also been active in promoting left-wing causes, including abortion, amnesty for illegal migrants, mass migration, the legalization of prostitution, and climate change activism.

Through the Open Society Foundations, which he took over from his father George Soros, Alex Soros has directed an estimated half a billion dollars towards leftist causes. These efforts have been largely funnelled through dark money nonprofit groups, primarily supporting political causes aligned with the Democratic Party.
