In a shocking revelation, the son of Ryan Wesley Routh, the man who allegedly attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump on Sunday, has spoken out about his father’s character. Oran Routh, 35, told the Daily Mail that his father is a registered Democrat who dislikes Trump, but is not a violent person. “He’s my dad, and all he’s had is a couple of traffic tickets, as far as I know,” Oran said, expressing his surprise at the allegations against his father. Oran also revealed that his father had recently traveled to Ukraine to volunteer after Russia’s invasion, and had no military experience. When asked if his father owned a gun, Oran replied, “Not that I know of.”
According to officials, Ryan Routh was seen carrying a rifle near the vicinity of Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. Secret Service agents spotted the rifle through snipers with tripods and immediately took action, firing four shots before Routh fled the scene. He was later arrested by local police officials on I-95, and a scope, two backpacks, and a GoPro camera were found in his possession. Officials reported that Routh was between 300 and 500 yards from Trump at the time of the incident.
During a press conference, Special Agent Rafael Barros explained that the area where the incident occurred, between the 5th and 6th holes, is considered a more vulnerable part of the course due to its proximity to the road.
